ImPACTS: Improving Projections of AMOC and Collapse Through Advanced Simulations
This project uses
artificial intelligence
and exascale supercomputers to better understand the
Atlantic meridional overturning circulation,
a large system of ocean currents that carry warm water from the tropics northward. This system of currents plays an important role in climate by regulating the global transport of heat, carbon and freshwater.
