Program
Faculty Research Participation
Faculty participants in this program typically spend a maximum of six months collaborating with an Argonne staff scientist or engineer on an existing Argonne project that is of interest to the faculty member. The applicant’s objectives for the Argonne appointment should be clearly specified, and the applicant’s department head or dean must endorse these objectives.
Faculty applicants must be full-time faculty members of an accredited college or university.

Sabbatical
Faculty Sabbatical
College and university faculty members may spend their sabbatical leave at Argonne. Appointments are normally for an academic or calendar year. The Faculty Sabbatical Program is intended to provide mutual benefits to faculty members and the Laboratory. In addition to bringing about fruitful research activity, it provides Argonne scientists, engineers, and visiting faculty the opportunity to develop a strengthened rapport and to catalyze the formation of continuing research partnerships and collaborations.
To be eligible for an appointment, a faculty member must be in receipt of a sabbatical-leave award (or other appropriate award) from his/her university, have the approval of the appropriate university administrator to accept the Argonne appointment, and have demonstrated accomplishments in an area of research and development relevant to research at Argonne. Applicants must be full-time faculty members of an accredited college or university.

Internship
Givens Associates
The Givens Associates program provides graduate students an opportunity to conduct work on a specific project within the Mathematics and Computer Science Division. Givens Associate positions are intended to encourage professional growth in graduate students who are beginning careers in numerical analysis or computational mathematics
Students must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. Students must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at a college or university.

Temporary Employment
Graduate Research Aide Appointments
As Argonne Research Aides, college and university students work alongside scientific and engineering staff, providing technical assistance. Rather than designing their own research programs, students are assigned specific technical tasks. As temporary employees, students earn a salary and are expected to possess the skills required to do the assigned task when they arrive. Understanding the scientific basis for the work is generally not emphasized. Unlike research internships, research aide appointments are considered jobs.
Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program. Cumulative minimum grade point average 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

Program
Graduate Research Program (GRP)
Graduate Research Program (GRP) appointments are available to qualified U.S. and non-U.S. university graduate students who wish to carry out their thesis research at Argonne National Laboratory under the co-sponsorship of an Argonne staff member and a faculty member at the student’s home institution. This program provides Master’s and Ph.D. level candidates an opportunity to conduct work within an Argonne research group or on a specific project for the purpose of supporting the student’s thesis work.
Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution.

Program
Guest Faculty Research Participation Program
The Guest Faculty Research Program is for faculty members who wish to perform long-term collaborative activities with an Argonne staff scientist or engineer. Participants do not receive pay or expense reimbursement for their work from Argonne.
Faculty applicants must be full-time faculty members of an accredited college or university.

Fellowship
Lee Teng Fellowship
The Lee Teng Undergraduate Fellowship in Accelerator Science and Engineering provides undergraduate level students an opportunity to study with experts in the field of accelerator science and technology at Argonne National Laboratory. Students are assigned a physicist or engineer mentor at Argonne based on the best match of student skills with the research project. Mentors work closely with the students to carry out the research during the ten-week summer residency.
Must be currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate studies at a U.S. university. Must be a sophomore or junior at the time of applying.

Fellowship
Margaret Butler Fellowship in Computational Science
The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility's Margaret Butler Fellowship in Computational Science is an exciting and unique opportunity to lead and contribute to the development of new scientific applications for high-performance computing (HPC). This includes exploring techniques to substantially improve the performance and range of science and engineering applications supported at the ALCF, one of the world’s premier HPC centers. The fellow will work closely with multidisciplinary ALCF and science project teams throughout the HPC community to help chart the future direction of scientific computing and leadership-class supercomputing facilities.
Ph.D. (completed within the last 0-5 years, or to be awarded by the start of the appointment) in applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, or similar field.

Program
Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program
EM’s Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP) offers internships to help develop our future workforce in critically important areas of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM). We invite you to help us tackle our unique and often-unprecedented scientific and technical challenges, which are engaging some of the finest scientists and engineers in the nation. MSIPP summer internships take place at selected DOE national laboratories and last for about 10 weeks. Interns will complete research projects that are relevant to EM’s ongoing mission. Students will also be involved in enrichment activities provided by the host laboratory.
Be enrolled as a undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited Minority Serving Institution (MSI).
Be pursuing a STEM degree.
